The Power of Connection: How Community Events Enrich Life at Solstice

People rely on social interaction to remain mentally and physically sound. Being part of a community fosters a sense of belonging and purpose and helps to combat feelings of loneliness. Social interaction can also help to increase mood, boost self-esteem, promote emotional regulation, foster empathy and promote a longer life.

At Solstice, we believe in the value of connection and community. That’s why we offer a comprehensive array of fun and engaging events throughout the year. These activities are designed to help residents bond with one another, stay active, and continue learning and growing in meaningful ways. Some of these events include:

  • Game Nights: Residents come together to play a variety of board games like Scrabble, poker, Yahtzee, Greed Dice, Uno, canasta, dominoes and others through scheduled game sessions. It’s a great way to engage the mind while enjoying a little friendly competition.
  • Fitness Classes: Solstice believes in the power of staying as active as possible! Residents can participate in energizing and accessible exercise classes like Chair Yoga, Chair Zumba, Walking Club and other wellness activities designed for all ability levels.
  • Craft Activities: Residents can express their creativity through hands-on activities like crocheting, knitting, sewing and coloring. No experience required!
  • Trivia/Bingo: These themed brain games provide an interactive opportunity to stimulate the mind and encourage social interaction in a lively setting.
  • Religious Services: We offer regular opportunities for residents to come together in spiritual reflection and worship. These moments of connection help many residents feel grounded and supported.
  • Movie Nights: Movie nights are a relaxing way for residents to wind down from the day and enjoy storytelling together.

It’s always a great day at Solstice – in addition to our scheduled event programming, residents often will get together to try out new restaurants, go shopping and explore their local cities. This is a great way to connect with others while running errands and/or trying something new.
